The Digital Marketing Director is responsible for leading digital strategy, performance marketing, and data-driven campaign execution across multiple client accounts. This role oversees the planning, implementation, and optimization of digital channels including paid media, search (SEO/SEM), social media, programmatic advertising, email marketing, CRM, and marketing automation. They need to understand how to maximize budget utilizing paid, earned, and owned channel relationships.
In addition, the Digital Marketing Director oversees web development strategy, user experience (UX), and digital customer journeys, ensuring marketing initiatives are effectively integrated across websites, landing pages, and digital platforms. The role also supports global eCommerce initiatives by aligning digital marketing programs with online customer acquisition, engagement, and conversion strategies.
The Digital Marketing Director ensures digital initiatives align with client business objectives and drive measurable growth. This position leads cross-functional digital teams, establishes performance frameworks, and drives continuous improvement through analytics, experimentation, and innovation.
The role works closely with the General Manager, Account Director, and creative teams to ensure digital strategies support business goals, client expectations, and integrated campaign execution.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Strategy & Campaign Leadership
Develop and lead comprehensive digital marketing strategies for client accounts.
Translate client business objectives into scalable digital marketing plans.
Oversee campaign planning, execution, and optimization across all digital channels.
Ensure campaigns deliver measurable results aligned with KPIs and ROI targets.
Lead the development of full-funnel digital marketing strategies spanning awareness, acquisition, engagement, and conversion.
Performance Marketing & Channel Management:
Lead strategy and optimization across key digital channels including:
Paid Media (Google Ads, Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc.)
Search Marketing (SEO & SEM)
Social Media Advertising
Programmatic Display & Video
Email Marketing and Marketing Automation
Additional responsibilities include:
Identify growth opportunities through audience targeting, creative testing, and conversion optimization.
Manage budget allocation and channel mix to maximize performance.
Align paid media and digital campaigns with website traffic growth and eCommerce conversion goals.
Web Development & User Experience (UX):
Collaborate with web development and UX teams to ensure digital marketing initiatives are effectively supported by high-performing websites and landing pages.
Guide website optimization initiatives focused on user experience, conversion rate optimization (CRO), and digital engagement.
Ensure digital campaigns integrate seamlessly with website architecture, content strategies, and user journey design.
Provide strategic input on website improvements, digital functionality, and customer experience enhancements.
Data, Analytics & Performance Frameworks:
Establish measurement frameworks including KPIs, attribution models, and tracking standards.
Oversee campaign performance reporting and insights for clients and internal teams.
Ensure proper implementation of analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Piwik Pro, Tag Manager, and marketing attribution platforms.
Use data insights to continuously optimize campaign performance, website performance, and digital customer journeys.
Team Leadership & Development:
Lead and mentor digital marketing specialists, performance marketers, and channel managers.
Establish best practices, workflows, and operational standards for digital campaigns.
Build a high-performing team culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and innovation.
Build and scale high-performing digital marketing teams, including performance marketing, analytics, and web optimization specialists.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with the General Manager, Account Director, and creative teams to align digital strategies with business objectives and campaign concepts.
Collaborate with strategy, creative, content, web development, UX, and analytics teams to ensure integrated campaign delivery.
Partner with account management teams to align digital initiatives with client goals and expectations.
Provide strategic digital insights during client planning sessions and business reviews.
Innovation & Industry Leadership:
Stay ahead of platform updates, emerging technologies, and industry trends.
Evaluate and adopt new tools, platforms, and approaches to improve campaign effectiveness.
Introduce testing frameworks for experimentation and continuous improvement.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field
Master's degree or MBA is a plus
Experience:
8–12+ years of experience in digital marketing or performance marketing
3–5+ years in a leadership or director-level role
Experience working in a marketing agency or managing multiple client accounts
Proven track record managing large-scale digital campaigns and budgets
Experience supporting web platforms, UX initiatives, and global eCommerce marketing
Experience working with global or regional marketing teams across multiple markets is preferred
Skills & Competencies:
Deep expertise in digital channels (paid media, SEO/SEM, social, programmatic)
Strong understanding of web development workflows and UX best practices
Experience supporting global eCommerce marketing and digital sales funnels
Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills
Experience with marketing analytics and attribution tools
Strong leadership and team management capabilities
Excellent client-facing communication and presentation skills
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced agency environment
