▍Your role
We are looking for a director to further strengthen the management/planning capability of the engineering department along with the company's growth goals. The target of this position is to ensure the engineering team can continuously deliver the best results and improve the overall efficiency of the production.
▍Your responsibilities in this job
1. Organization development
- Define and maintain the company's job-grading system, make responsibilities and qualifications clear for each level of engineers and engineering managers.
- Help team members to develop necessary capabilities according to their positions, job grades, and strengths/weaknesses.
- Set goals and conduct regular performance reviews for teams and individuals in order to achieve continuous self-improvement on skills and mentalities.
2. Workflow and efficiency
- Define the best practice with/for the team to facilitate agile development as well as the delivery of quality results, including specifications, coding conventions, code reviews, unit tests, risk assessments, auto build/test...etc.
- Define the process for service emergency handling, making sure the service works 24/7.
- Help the team to continuously execute and improve the above processes with discipline.
3. Project and cost management
- Manage projects by setting high-level requirements, goals and timelines
- Monitor and optimize the utilization of engineering resources and address conflicts
- Prepare and manage the budget of R&D department
- Locate and address cost-efficiency issues in back-end services and working flows.
4. Human resource & talent acquisition
- Diversify the use of human resource strategies on R&D activities, e.g. contract workers, outsourcing, academic collaboration, consulting firm, or developing automations.
- Make strategies and plans to attract senior and diverse engineering talent to the company
- Continuously optimize the job posting, recruiting tactics, qualification tools, and interview processes. Extend and strengthen the channels, campaigns, and partnerships for hiring.
