Responsibilities:

• Responsible for leading the development of design concepts through prototype hardware procurement, assembly, testing, data analysis, fault analysis, problem solving, and design refinement. Ensure designs are optimized for large-scale production and automated assembly (DFM and DFA principles)
• Deliver and maintain design documentation such as drawings, BOM, test reports timely
• Perform hands-on approach in prototyping and using basic measurement equipment, including ability to design required jig and fixture setup, and Proof of Principle machine evaluation and buy-off
• Devise inventive and technically robust solutions to intricate multi-physical challenges. Leverage personal engineering expertise while collaborating closely with experts in various engineering domains
• Initiate and or review Engineering Change, making 3D/2D & BOM changes/creation with strong justification; liaise with Manufacturing & Production to ensure smooth implementation
• To work with the Manufacturing Team for engineering evaluations or special builds in support of productivity/quality improvement projects or cost reduction initiatives such as alternative parts/suppliers, engineering redesign, etc
• Supports manufacturing production by evaluating issues and solving problems
• Provides existing product line support in design activities and modification
• Manage multiple activities and changing priorities

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, machine design, and/or industrial automation
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics or equivalent experience
• Solid modeling software experience (Creo)
• Experience working in cross-functional teams
• Good knowledge of physical “first principles” and ability to perform analytical calculations
• Ability to solve problems in a logical manner
• Analytical, detailed oriented with ability to manage time and tasks appropriately
• Proficient in database, spreadsheet, and word processing applications
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to write at a professional and technical level

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Experience with mechanical design of commercial appliances(i.e. Coffee machine, water boiler, refrigerator, washing machine, ice machine, beverage dispenser, medical device, etc.) or similar experience(i.e. Industrial machinery)
• Experience with design and simulation of; precision machining, sheet metal, injection molding, and large assemblies
• Understands the fabrication, installation, operation, application, maintenance, and repair of products
• Experience breaking down high-level (e.g. device level) performance issues into addressable action items
• Capable of identifying critical process parameters and applying statistics to process measurement and control
• Extremely strong mechanical aptitude and ability to conceptualize and create mechanical designs
