The popular service was founded in 2009 based on the premise that consumers can unlock the value of items they no longer need by trading them online using an innovative, cashless system.
In February of 2018, the team launched Ink Protocol and the XNK token with the goal of being able to securely buy and sell anywhere with decentralized reputation and escrow.
Today, the Listia marketplace is fully integrated with Ink Protocol and the company is charging full steam ahead on both projects.

共同創辦人 James Fong 有一天想要把僅用過幾次但還堪用的滑雪板鞋送給需要的人，一開始他用了 eBay，結果沒人要，還因此浪費了刊登費；他也試了 Cragslist，但需要多次往返回覆很多有興趣但也不確認的人 email？
所以他就跟好友 Gee Chuang 討論是不是有更好的方式來讓人處理這些並不想收費的二手貨，所以創辦了 Listia。Listia 用其自行發行的虛擬點數讓人來競標，虛擬點數可以透過完成各種動作例如註冊，看完 how to，刊登物件，線上分享或者是購買等方式取得。Listia 在 2011年四月取得也投資 GroupOn 的知名創投 Andreessen Horowitz 領軍的投資。
Listia was soft launched July 26, 2009 and publicly launched on August 6, 2009. In 2010, the site passed the 1,000,000 auction mark and was named one of the top 100 websites of 2010 by PC Magazine.
On January 31, 2012 Listia announced that they had over 1 million registered users, with listings in over 3,000 cities. They also launched their official Android app.
On July 18, 2012 Listia launched their Rewards Store to allow users to get brand new electronics and other goods with their Listia credits from big online retailers.
